Tuft & Lach, PLLC is a strong advocate of the settlement-oriented approach to divorce and family law matters, as we promote alternative forms of dispute resolution in order to keep costs down for our clients. However, if a motion, hearing, or a trial is necessary in a case, our attorneys are respected and experienced litigators who are prepared to zealously advocate for our clients.

For over fifteen years, Tuft & Lach, PLLC has regularly handled cases in Anoka County District Court. Because of this, our attorneys are familiar with Anoka County court procedures and staff. Over the past few years Anoka County has adopted the Early Case Management (ECM) approach to family law matters. The goal of this approach is to reduce acrimony in family law matters by having the assigned judge meet with the parties and their attorneys early in the process in order to streamline resolution of the case, and before they have spent thousands of dollars. This approach involves an Initial Case Management Conference (ICMC) with a judge within a few weeks after the case is filed. At that meeting any resolved issues are finalized and a process is identified to deal with the remaining issues. For example, if there are financial issues, the court and parties may agree that a financial early neutral evaluation (FENE) is appropriate. If there are child-related issues a custody and parenting time early neutral evaluation (CPENE) or a custody evaluation may be used. Mediation and arbitration are options as well.

Tuft & Lach, PLLC uses state of the art technology to increase efficiency and keep client costs down. We use e-mail and scanners to get correspondence and documents to clients quickly, and we draw from our extensive database of briefs and court forms to produce pleadings efficiently. We use WestlawNext™, FinPlan™, Excel and other software to efficiently and accurately gather information about cases and address legal issues. This allows us to keep legal costs in check while still providing the advice and attention clients require.
