Dissolution of Marriage
“Dissolution of Marriage” is the legal term for the more commonly used “divorce”. In a divorce, the legal marital bonds between the parties are dissolved and other issues between the parties are addressed. This can include issues around children like child custody and parenting time. This can include property issues like division of assets (household goods, cars, bank accounts, investments, stock options, timeshares, etc.) and debts and determination of what may be nonmarital property. This can include cash flow issues like spousal maintenance (formerly called alimony) and child support. In addition, there are likely medical insurance and life insurance to be considered in a divorce.
