Melanie Nelson is an Associate Attorney at Tuft, Lach, Jerabek & O’Connell. She practices in all areas of family law. Prior to joining Tuft, Lach, Jerabek & O’Connell, Melanie was an associate attorney at a mid-sized law firm in the Twin Cities and a law clerk to a referee in Ramsey County Family Court. In these positions, Melanie learned about the complexities of family law and gained insight into how judicial officers make decisions.
During law school, Melanie gained additional experience working at a county attorney’s office in their criminal prosecution division as well as representing clients with the St. Thomas Elder Law and Guardianship Alternatives Clinic. Through these experiences, Melanie gained valuable insight into other areas of law that interplay with family law on a regular basis.
Melanie understands that for many, their family law case is their first and only interaction with the court system. Melanie likes helping clients navigate some of the most difficult times of their lives.
Outside of the office, Melanie enjoys spending time with her dog, hanging out with friends and family, watching hockey, and attending concerts. Melanie also serves as the secretary of the Family Law League.
